FCH - Erskine Street / Aura
The relatively flat surroundings of the Erskine Industrial estate in Liverpool, adjacent to the Royal Hospital, are about to get much taller. Planning was recently granted to FCH - Liverpool’s biggest architectural practice, to go ahead with their £100m Aura student/residential development.
In conjunction with Elliot Group, it is set to completely change an area of light-industry into housing for key professionals and students in the Knowledge Quarter of Liverpool, toward the north of the city. The building, which will reach 14 storeys at its highest point, comprises two buildings, separate from one another, but conjoined by the space between them, which will be public realm and feature new landscaping and mature planting.
Once the work reaches completion, the scheme will offer 142 one and two bedroom apartments for rent, as well as 1007 student rooms, state-of-the-art yoga studios and gym facilities, and bars and study zones. Work is expected to start in summer 2017.
Current tenants of the Erskine Industrial Estate have been informed of the timescales of the project, and have been offered professional aid in identifying new premises.
